Surprising Facts about Jupiter that you didn’t know

Jupiter is the greatest planet in the nearby planet group, and its size gives it a few pretty astounding properties. Here are some surprising facts about Jupiter that you didn’t know to get you the fantastic pictures and disclosures to come:

Biggest Planet in our solar system

Jupiter is by a long shot the most enormous vast body in the planetary group, Jupiter is 2.5 times more huge than all remaining planets joined together but slightly less than one-thousandth the mass of the Sun. It is almost multiple times more enormous than Earth and it would take 11 Earths arranged close to each to match Jupiter’s distance across.

The strongest magnetic field on the planet and intense gravity

The strongest feature in the solar system is the magnetosphere of Jupiter. Compared to Earth, its magnetic field is 20 times greater. Its gravity is solid to the point that a rocket would need to go an inconceivable 135,000 mph to leave. The radius of Jupiter’s magnetic tail, which almost completely encircles Saturn’s orbit, is about 800 million kilometres.

How long is one day in Jupiter

Jupiter’s day is only about 9 hours and 55 minutes Earth-hours long.it means approx 20 hours of the entire day and night. Jupiter is the fastest rotating planet in our solar system but due to the distance from the sun, it takes 12 Years to complete an orbit than our 1 year of our planet does.

The dry and dense atmosphere of Jupiter

Helium and hydrogen are the main compositions of gases in Jupiter’s atmosphere. Scientists found smaller amounts of methane and ammonia, This is the main reason behind its dense and dry atmosphere which leads to almost no surfaces on Jupiter.

Jupiter has 80 known moons.

Galileo found the main first four moons in 1610. Jupiter has the most moons of all the other planets in the solar system.

Great Red Spot

Jupiter is full of storms small and big, even some storms are bigger than earth. Some of them are a cyclonic swirling storm twice the width of Earth that’s raged for at least over the centuries called the Great Red Spot.

In recent studies, scientists have found this gas planet likely formed only a million years after the sun, roughly 50 million years before Earth. What an amazing planet with its great name after the king of the Roman god.
