China Warns U.S.- “We Will Fight Until the End” Over Trade Tensions
Beijing, April 8 — In a sharply worded response to the United States’ threat of an additional 50% tariff on Chinese imports, China has vowed to fight “until the end” if the U.S. continues its aggressive trade stance. The warning, issued by a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson during a daily press briefing, signals that Beijing is unwilling to back down in what could escalate into a full-blown tariff war.
The spokesperson, Lin Jian, condemned the United States’ actions, calling them a violation of international trade rules and an affront to the World Trade Organization’s principles. Lin emphasized that the imposition of tariffs is not only a breach of the legitimate rights of countries but also a threat to global economic stability. “It is a clear example of unilateralism, protectionism, and economic bullying,” Lin declared, referring to the ongoing pressure from Washington. “Such actions have been met with widespread opposition from the international community.”
According to Lin, the Chinese government views the U.S. tariffs as an unjust tactic that risks damaging the multilateral trading system built over decades. He also cautioned that no nation stands to benefit from trade wars or tariffs, reiterating China’s stance that protectionist policies ultimately fail to deliver positive outcomes for any side involved.
“China is committed to defending its rights and interests,” Lin said firmly. “The Chinese people do not cause trouble, but we are not afraid of trouble. If the U.S. continues down this path, China will take all necessary measures to protect what is rightfully ours. We are ready to fight until the end.”
The remarks from Beijing reflect the deepening tensions in the trade relationship between the two largest economies in the world. While previous trade negotiations have yielded some results, both sides have continued to exchange threats and retaliatory measures, often intensifying the dispute.
As the situation develops, experts warn that the consequences of a prolonged trade war could be far-reaching. Beyond the direct impact on U.S.-China trade, other global markets could experience disruption, as the ripple effects of a tariff war often extend to other economies. For now, both nations remain entrenched in their positions, with no clear resolution in sight.
The unfolding situation has drawn widespread attention on the global stage, with many observing how this economic conflict will evolve and whether a diplomatic breakthrough can be achieved before the situation escalates further.
