Layoffs at Twitter will begin today: Interoffice email
The announcement of layoffs brings to an end a week of purges by Musk during which he sought significant cost reductions and imposed a combative new work ethic throughout the social media giant.
Following a week of uncertainty over the firm’s future under new owner Elon Musk, Twitter will notify employees through email on Friday, November 4, about whether they have been laid off. In addition, the company will temporarily close its offices and bar staff access.
The email issued on Thursday, obtained by Reuters, stated: “In an effort to place Twitter on a healthy path, we will go through the arduous process of decreasing our global staff on Friday.”
To “help safeguard the safety of each employee as well as Twitter systems and customer data,” Twitter stated its offices will be temporarily closed and all credential access will be suspended.
Twitter staff members who are not affected by the layoffs will be informed via work, according to the social media network.
The memo stated that employees who have been let go will receive information on the following steps at their home emails.
The announcement of layoffs brings to an end a week of purges by Musk during which he sought significant cost reductions and imposed a combative new work ethic throughout the social media giant.
He has instructed Twitter’s teams to find up to $1 billion in yearly infrastructure cost savings. He had already purged the senior tiers of the organization, letting go of the chief executive as well as the company’s top financial and legal officials. Over the course of the previous week, several executives left, including those in charge of the company’s marketing, advertising, and human resources departments.
The first week that Musk has owned Twitter has been chaotic and uncertain. Two company-wide meetings were planned but were abruptly canceled.
