UK Police Charge Russell Brand with Rape and Sexual Assault- British comedian and actor Russell Brand, aged 50, has been formally charged with multiple sexual offenses following an extensive 18-month investigation by London’s Metropolitan Police. The charges include one count of rape, one of oral rape, one of indecent assault, and two of sexual assault. These allegations involve four women and are said to have occurred between 1999 and 2005, with incidents reported in Bournemouth and central London.
The investigation was initiated after a joint report by Channel 4’s Dispatches and The Sunday Times in September 2023, where four women accused Brand of various forms of sexual misconduct, including assault and emotional abuse. One of the accusers claimed the assault occurred when she was 16 years old.
Russell Brand has consistently denied all allegations, asserting that his past relationships were consensual. In a recent social media video, he acknowledged his history with sex and drug addiction but firmly stated that he has never engaged in non-consensual sexual activity. Brand criticized the accusations as part of a coordinated attack on his character and expressed his readiness to defend himself in court.
As a result of the allegations, several of Brand’s professional affiliations have been terminated, and some of his tour dates have been postponed. He is scheduled to appear in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on May 2, 2025. The police investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have encouraged any individuals with relevant information to come forward.
