China possessed significant international impact throughout the Ming dynasty (1368–1644), in part due to the expansion of world trade. But do economic dominance, commerce, and cultural influence add up to a “superpower”? The dynastic cycle is the phrase historians use to describe the ups and downs of China’s fortunes. “China’s last golden age” was defined as the reign of three magnificent Qing emperors in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. As a result of trade, China became wealthy, especially starting in the 17th century when it absorbed most of the world’s silver supply.

It’s possible that China will develop a new significant role for itself in the twenty-first century as it attempts to establish a “new Silk Road” through foreign investment across Asia and Africa.

Since 1978, China has seen a dramatic transition, and its economy has multiplied. Little towns and port cities became industrial centers as the demand for Chinese goods soared all over the world.

Large quantities of foreign capital also poured into China’s market as a result of its economy’s opening up, and many Western businesses moved their operations there. As a result, China’s industrial activity was significantly boosted, and the country eventually became an economic superpower. The flow of knowledge and technology from Western nations has benefited Chinese companies. They were able to use them effectively, increasing the competitiveness of Chinese goods in international markets.

The Chinese Growth Model

Yet, China was able to marshal its resources and get through the difficulties typically faced by emerging nations. The Chinese gave their local industries the proper incentives to grow both domestically and abroad.

Private businesses were promoted alongside State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs). The profit-driven companies enhanced China’s efficiency and business methods. The advancements made by private businesses inspired state-owned businesses to increase their output. The SOEs are significant actors in the industrial sector of China and receive a lot of support from Chinese financial institutions. But, they are now more focused on making a profit and are conducting business internationally.

Government Policies 

The 6th Five Year Plan of the Chinese Communist Party (1981–1985) was the first in a line of national development plans created during the reform era. Many nations and international organizations were eager to find out about Beijing’s change in development planning and look into opportunities for economic collaboration.

The 6th Five Year Plan’s main objective was “to maintain the strategy of readjustment, restructuring, consolidation, and improvement, and make further efforts to resolve the myriad issues from the past that impede economic progress.”

China’s opening up and reforms focused on the market received special support from the US. The review of the sixth five-year plan by the Central Investigation Agency identified numerous potentials for industrial collaboration.

Censorship in China 

China does not have access to Google, Facebook, Snapchat, Uber, Youtube, or Amazon (with the exception of Uber and Amazon in some cities). This is because of China’s Great Firewall, which, along with the Great Wall of China, is the second most well-known wall and shut out most Western Internet technologies.

China controls the Internet for a variety of reasons, including Social control: The Internet allows for the expression of ideas freely, and the spread of campaigns may spark protests against the government. Controlling information on the Chinese government requires sensitive content. and the Chinese government never accepts any interference with their programs or any agenda that conflicts with their objectives for establishing the country. They do not alter public policies.
