Star Wars: Galactic Racer is bringing its high-speed racing action to Amazon Luna at launch, giving Amazon Prime members another way to jump into the upcoming game without needing to purchase a separate Luna subscription.
Developed by Fuse Games and published by Secret Mode, Galactic Racer is set to launch across multiple platforms, including Windows, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. However, its availability through Amazon Luna could make the game particularly appealing to players who prefer cloud gaming or want to jump into the action without downloading a large game to their device.
The biggest attraction for Amazon users is that Galactic Racer will be playable through Luna as part of an Amazon Prime subscription. That means eligible Prime members will be able to access the game through the cloud when it launches, adding another gaming benefit to Amazon’s subscription service.
Rather than offering only a limited selection of gameplay, Galactic Racer’s Luna version will include the game’s single-player campaign, Arcade mode and Scenario mode. Players will therefore have several different ways to experience the racing-focused Star Wars title from launch.
The single-player campaign is designed to provide the main progression experience, while the additional modes offer shorter and more varied challenges. Arcade mode focuses on quick, time-based events with specific objectives, making it suited to players who want to jump into a race without committing to a longer session.
The game also includes Scenario mode, which introduces different rules and character combinations. This mode should provide a different style of gameplay from the standard racing experience, giving players additional reasons to return after completing the campaign.
For Amazon Luna users, the cloud-based nature of the service means there is no need to install the full game locally before playing. As long as players have a compatible device and a suitable internet connection, they can access the game through the cloud and begin racing without waiting for a traditional download and installation.
The Luna release is also notable because Galactic Racer is not being positioned as a cloud-only experience. The game will launch across Windows, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at the same time, giving players multiple ways to experience it depending on their preferred platform.
Amazon’s inclusion of the game with Prime could nevertheless give Luna a useful advantage. Cloud gaming services continue to compete for players’ attention, and making a new Star Wars game available to an existing subscription audience could help bring more people to Luna.
For players who already have Amazon Prime, the arrangement also removes one potential barrier to trying the game. Instead of purchasing Galactic Racer separately to find out whether it suits them, Prime members can access the Luna version as part of their existing subscription.
The decision could be particularly interesting for players who do not own a current-generation console. Since Luna streams games rather than relying on local console hardware, users can potentially play on supported devices without investing in a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S.
Of course, cloud gaming performance will still depend on factors such as internet speed, connection stability and the device being used. Players with reliable connections should be able to take advantage of the convenience offered by Luna, while others may still prefer a native installation on PC or console.
The Star Wars name could also help draw attention to the release. Galactic Racer combines the franchise’s familiar universe with a racing-focused format, offering something different from the more traditional action and adventure games associated with Star Wars.
With campaign, Arcade and Scenario modes available through Luna at launch, Amazon Prime members will have access to more than just a basic cloud version of the game.
For Amazon Luna, the launch represents another opportunity to show the value of its cloud gaming platform. And for Star Wars fans who already subscribe to Prime, Galactic Racer could be an easy game to try when it arrives, without requiring another gaming subscription on top of the service they already use.
