- The Amazon forest area covers South America’s Brazilian, Bolivian, Peruvian, Ecuadorian, Colombian, Venezuelan, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana provinces.
- The Amazon Rainforest is frequently referred to as the “Lungs of the Earth” since it produces more than 20% of the oxygen used in the world.
- The Amazon produces more than 10 times that quantity of the world’s oxygen despite only making up 3.4 million square miles, or less than 2%, of the planet’s surface.
- There are a lot of mild and amiable species in the Amazon, but there are also others that you should absolutely stay away from, like venomous snakes, toxic frogs, jaguars, and flesh-eating piranhas! What would you do if you encountered one of these dangerous but interesting creatures?
- The Amazon Rainforest is home to 400–500 indigenous tribes in addition to thousands of distinct vegetation and animal species. More than 50 of these tribes are believed to have never interacted with outsiders, indicating that there are still uncharted territories in the Amazon.
- Brazil is home to almost two thirds of the Amazon jungle.

- From 2004 to 2012, there was a decline in deforestation in the Amazon rainforest, largely as a result of Brazil’s declining deforestation rate. There are numerous factors contributing to the drop, including macroeconomic trends, new indigenous territories, and protected areas, strengthened law enforcement, satellite-based deforestation monitoring, pressure from environmental groups, and corporate sector initiatives.
- Martin Strel completed the Amazon river’s whole length in 2007! Martin splashed through the water for up to ten hours every day for 66 days to finish his expedition!
- The top branches and leaves of the trees, which make up the canopy, are so thick that they permanently block out the sun on the Amazonian floor. In fact, it’s so thick that it takes the rainwater around ten minutes to reach the ground when it rains.
- There are over 40,000 plant species, 1,300 bird species, 3,000 varieties of fish, 430 animals, and an astounding 2.5 million different bug species in the Amazon. Absolutely amazing!
